Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was the primary beneficiary. It was established by Bill Gates, Microsoft founder as well as his wife Melinda. They were focused on health and education in the world. Bill and Buffett have been friends since the early 1990s. Other charities that received donations included those that Buffett's children and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named for his late wife, which concentrated on women's reproductive rights and funded college scholarship programmes.
